The seventh miracle of the cross:
THE WONDER OF RE-BIRTH
A Spear in His Side
The Wonder of Being Born Again
Why you should be Born Again
What does it Mean to be ‘Born again’?
Jesus Saw you, that is Why He Persevered!
Jesus Saw you, that is Why He Persevered!
Jesus was able to endure the prolonged suffering because He had you in mind the entire time. Jesus was able to endure the suffering because He was continually focused on your salvation. You were the joy waiting for Him89. This is where we see God’s great love for you: Jesus chose the Cross so He could bring you back to the Father.
It was this same thought through which Isaiah prophesied: ‘If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, and the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand’90.
Jesus knew that you would receive the option of becoming a child of God through His death and resurrection. That is how He could take up the Cross and think nothing of the disgrace: ‘As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; by His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, as He will bear their iniquities’91.
When Jesus died on the Cross He cried out: ‘It is finished!’92. The word in Hebrew is from the root kalal, which means ‘to complete, perfect, make complete, make perfect’. But did you know that the Hebrew word for ‘bride’ (kallach) also has the same root? Could it be that Jesus thought of the bride for whom He was paying such a price with His last breath? You were already in His heart, why would you not also be on His lips?
