Delivered from the Curse

The crown of thorns with which the soldiers crowned Jesus is symbolic for the curse that came over the earth after Adam and Eve had sinned. As a result of the fall of mankind, the earth brought forth thorns and thistles59. The best definition of a curse is simple: the result of sin.

When Jesus was crowned by Roman soldiers with a crown of thorns, this was a prophetic act in which it became apparent that Jesus had become a curse in our place: ‘But by becoming a curse for us Christ has redeemed us from the curse that the Law brings; for the scripture says, “Anyone who is hanged on a tree is under God’s curse.” Christ did this in order that the blessing which God promised to Abraham might be given to the Gentiles by means of Christ Jesus, so that through faith we might receive the Spirit promised by God’60.

Jesus died on the Cross not only to remove your sins, but to also destroy the results of sin: the guilt, the shame and the victimization. Jesus wore the crown of thorns in your place, so that you can receive the Father’s blessing without limitations!
