The fourth miracle of the cross:
THE WONDER OF HEALING
The Scourging
His Stripes bring you Healing
Look to Jesus!
Persevering and Doing God’s Will
Persevering
Paul knew like no other that we could experience ‘the powers of the future world’ so that people could be healed by God in our time as well53. Even though Paul experienced that not everyone healed for whom he prayed, he didn’t stop praying54. In the meantime he expected a new heaven and a new earth, where we will all receive complete healing and restoration55.
Praying for the sick always must be combined with faith and expectation. God can hardly give you something if you are not ready to receive it. In order to receive the mercy gift of healing, we also need perseverance and patience to receive what God has promised:
‘Our great desire is that each of you keep up your eagerness to the end, so that the things you hope for will come true. We do not want you to become lazy, but to be like those who believe and are patient, and so receive what God has promised’56. ‘Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will receive all that He has promised’57.’
It is important that, despite hardships and disappointments, we continue to do the will of God. We must continue to pray for the sick, in faith and endurance. With the expectation that the power of God will work in and through us. Let us believe that God wants to heal many more people than that we have seen healed so far.
Father in heaven,
Thank You that there is no destructive disease that Jesus has not already taken upon Himself during the scourging. I believe that I am healed by His stripes and that every sickness is subject to Him. That is why I can come to You for healing in my body. Jesus is my Healer! Help me to continue in endurance, doing Your will by also praying for others who are ill, to be healed. Thank You for so much love!
Amen.
