Jesus bled seven times
The prophets and the four evangelists tell you that Jesus bled seven times for you. The seven times that Jesus bled, were no coincidence. Each of them were prophetic acts, prophesied about hundreds of years prior to their occurrence, desired and inspired by God and executed by sinful Roman soldiers. God wants to clearly show you what the wonder of the Cross means for you through these prophetic acts.
In the Bible the number ‘seven’ is connected to the Person and the work of the Holy Spirit. John had a vision on Patmos of seven torches which are symbolic for the Holy Spirit1) and the seven arms of the lamp stand in the temple points to God’s presence in our midst through the Holy Spirit2. When we speak of the wonder of the Cross, we mean that the Holy Spirit wants to supernaturally work out in your life that which Jesus accomplished for you in the last eighteen hours of His life. It is God’s desire that you accept the seven-fold gift of the Cross. For there is a whole new life waiting for you ‘in Christ’!
The number seven is the biblical number of fullness and always points to fullness and perfection. The seven wonders of the Cross bring you to Jesus, who was made a perfect sacrifice in order to completely reconcile you with God. That is why the Bible says that you can come to Jesus and to the blood which was sprinkled: ‘You have come to Jesus, who arranged the new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that promises much better things than does the blood of Abel’3).
